The snowplough turbine

The snowplough turbine is formed by a machine body inside which a screw is turned which "eats" the snow and conveys it to a turbine. The turbine, in turn, launches the snow inside an adjustable chimney and expels it. This is why two-stage or two-stage vehicles are defined. The thrust generated and the inclination of the chimney allow to launch the snow at varying distances depending on the power of the machine: it ranges from 7-8 m. up to 30 m, in the most powerful versions. This machine can be driven by electric or petrol engines. Electric motors work with the normal electric mains at home, but do not have great power: typically they are reserved for those small machines useful for small jobs, instead of the shovel. The turbines with internal combustion engines are another matter.

The turbine that moves on wheels is generally equipped with snow chains, to increase grip. Its field of operation is represented by all those places where there are no large depressions or asperities in the ground, otherwise the work becomes the prerogative of the tracked version. Engine start-up is usually tear-off, but there are also versions with electric start, more comfortable and functional. Some versions are fitted with a halogen light which uses the LED technology in the most modern machines to operate even in the dark. To ensure maneuverability, the machine is equipped with a mechanical gearbox with forward and reverse gears, to be able to perform any type of maneuver in absolute comfort. The cutter can be lifted manually or hydraulically.Snowplough turbine: The operation of the snowplough turbine

The snow blower turbine controls are very similar to those of a rotary cultivator: there are two handlebars, on which the main controls are mounted, while the gear lever is located between them, in a central position. The snow throwing angle from the fireplace varies from the models, in some it is different from side to side, in others it is perfectly identical, from whatever side one operates. Some vehicles, to increase the operativity, are equipped with hydraulic cylinders for the inclination of the cutter, so as to better conform to the bottom to be cleaned. The working width of this vehicle varies according to the model and power, from 60 cm. about almost to double. The hourly output varies from 30-50 t / h up to 250 t / h of snow removed.
